The Widow’s Prayer

Last week I was prompted to open up communication with a lady whom I haven’t spoken to in years.

For the first half an hour or so of the telephone conversation she recounted all the events occurring in her family.

On discovering that we now lived on acreage, she shared a funny account about one of her family members who happens to live on a major main road in Sydney. At his address traffic noise is at a premium all year round. He took a trip to a farm property in the bush, as we call it, and after the first night he reported to everyone present that he had been unable to get any sleep that night because of all the noise – God’s creation noise. I guess it’s what you’re used to.

In a slight lapse in the conversation I asked, ‘Heather, do you mind if I share with you about a project I’m working on?’

And that’s when I began to talk about the ‘The Cross & The Switchblade’ and about my plans to take it to New York.

Hello Peter, happy to be a fan of The Cross and The Switchblade. This was one of the 1st books I read when I became a Christian. I loved it. How God used David Wilkerson to reach out to violent gangs with the simple message. God loves you.  And the fact it is a true story too blew me away!! I would to see your version but I live in the UK so until it comes here I’ll have to wait for that. I’m not sure how to suggest to friends to become fans as I’m not good on the computer so I have clicked the share tab to post it to the main page. Father I thank you that you are using Peter to take your message of around the world, transforming lives. I pray that you provide all Peter’s needs and requirements, that this will touch and soften hard hearts, that their eyes be opened and they know you are an awesome God, worthy of all praise, that tears will flow and souls be saved. Glory be to God Amen.  B.R.

I did check it out and I like it!!! I can’t help on the producing part because I’m just a high school teacher but I can tell you that the books, meeting the “real” characters and hearing their testimonies, and seeing the movie 12 times in the theater when I was 12 years old changed my life forever!!!!! I have a picture of David Wilkerson and Nicky Cruz on my wall above my desk to remind me everyday of what God can do in the lives of young people if someone will dare to reach out to them!!! I have given the books and the movie to many, many people including my own children and they have all been touched by this miraculous story. I will pray for you that God will open the doors needed to get this story out to as many people as possible. Thank you for bringing this legacy into a new venue for this generation!!! God Bless you on your venture!!! J.D.

My Granite Strength & Safe Harbor

‘My help and glory are in God – granite-strength and safe-harbor-God- so trust him absolutely people; lay your lives on the line for him, God is a safe place to be.’ Psalm 62:7,8

I remember walking out of my room one night, while visiting Benin City in Nigeria, and being suddenly hit by a wall of wind that physically pushed me up against the wall of my balcony – and yet God protected me from harm.

I recall the day, when my first daughter was being born, and I had no money. I was hungry, and when I visited the hospital’s toilet cubicle, there in the bowl was a dry, crisp and brand new $5 bill.

I can never forget the afternoon when my young son died in my arms and was raised up alive again as I commanded the spirit of death to leave his body.

I cannot erase from my memory the morning when Jesus appeared to me in a dream, and completely healed my frozen shoulder in an instant when I woke.

The Extraordinary In The Ordinary

My youngest daughter came home last night saying that she had just been asked to share her testimony. But she was a little upset and said, ‘Dad, I don’t have a testimony. Not a real testimony that is. I’ve lived such an ordinary life’.

I responded by saying,  ‘Hey, never underestimate your life. You don’t need to have experienced sex, drugs and rock ‘n’ roll to have a powerful testimony. God is as much in the ordinary as He is in the extraordinary’.

I went on  to share with her that in Matthew’s Gospel Jesus said, ‘Are not two sparrows sold for a copper coin? And not one of them falls to the ground apart from your Father’s will? But the very hairs of your head are all numbered.’ My daughter, who happens to be a hairdresser, liked that last verse in particular.

And then I mentioned to her, ‘And don’t forget how we came to have our beautiful Golden Retriever…’
