The Extraordinary In The Ordinary

My youngest daughter came home last night saying that she had just been asked to share her testimony. But she was a little upset and said, ‘Dad, I don’t have a testimony. Not a real testimony that is. I’ve lived such an ordinary life’.

I responded by saying,  ‘Hey, never underestimate your life. You don’t need to have experienced sex, drugs and rock ‘n’ roll to have a powerful testimony. God is as much in the ordinary as He is in the extraordinary’.

I went on  to share with her that in Matthew’s Gospel Jesus said, ‘Are not two sparrows sold for a copper coin? And not one of them falls to the ground apart from your Father’s will? But the very hairs of your head are all numbered.’ My daughter, who happens to be a hairdresser, liked that last verse in particular.

And then I mentioned to her, ‘And don’t forget how we came to have our beautiful Golden Retriever…’
