‘Got A Dream? Go Get It. Period!’

‘Don’t let someone ever tell you you can’t do something. Not even me. Alright? You got a dream. You’ve got to protect it. People can’t do something themselves. They want to tell you you can’t do it. You want something? Go get it. Period.’ Will Smith talks to his son in the film ‘The Pursuit of Happyness’.

As a young boy I would always come last in foot races. But when I took up soccer(football) I realized that as a forward – whose sole purpose is to score goals – I didn’t necessarily need to be the fastest to win. By learning how to dodge and weave, in my pursuit of the goalmouth, I was able to outstrip those faster defenders, and for many years was one of our top goal scorers for my team, and even helped to lead us to the winner’s post for a number of premierships.

Success doesn’t necessarily come to the fastest. It comes to the one who holds on tight in the pursuit of their dream.

When you have a dream, there is no plan B. And that’s where the willingness to even die for your dream is vital.

For the true possessor of a dream is willing to do whatever it takes to see that dream come to pass. The dreamer risks failure, disapproval, misunderstanding, criticism, and so much more because they dare to dream.

They refuse mediocrity. They expect excellence. They work harder. They work longer. They just don’t know how to quit. And when they’re knocked down, they’re not knocked out, but are back on their feet in a flash.

Disappointment won’t keep them down. Their half empty glass is always half full. Their lack of talent(compared to others) won’t hold them back because they have a dream.

‘So got a dream? Go get it. Period!’
