In this fast paced, fast tracked, fast food world that we live in there is a common thread that seems to run through the fabric of the society that we now live in in the 21st century – and that is – we don’t like waiting.
And yet there is a tremendous positive side to waiting that is recorded in the ancient words of the Bible…
‘That is why waiting does not diminish us, any more than waiting diminishes a pregnant mother. We are enlarged in the waiting. We, of course don’t see what is enlarging us. But the longer we wait, the larger we become, and the more joyful our expectancy.’ Romans 8:24,25
There are so many powerful truths found within those verses, but I would like to take a closer look at three parts of that statement as it relates to our daily life.
1. Waiting Does Not Diminish Us
Just because you have a vision for your life, and the years have ticked by with seemingly no evidence of that vision taking place in your life, does not in anyway diminish the vision, or diminish you. Small people are those who have no vision. Big people are visionaries who hang on to that vision, no matter what.

1. Keep Your Dream Alive
When you are given a dream it is quite normal for the dream to be tested, and for the life of the dream to be challenged. That is the nature of having a dream. But when it seems that your dream is gasping its last breath, keep believing God. For at that very point you will be closer to giving birth to your dream than you’ve ever been before.

‘Whenever God gives a vision to a saint, He puts him, as it were, in the shadow of His hand, and the saint’s duty is to be still and listen. There is a darkness which comes from excess of light, and then is the time to listen.
Genesis 16 is an illustration of listening to good advice when it is dark instead of waiting for God to send the light. When God gives a vision and darkness follows, wait. God will make you in accordance with the vision He has given if you will wait His time. Never try and help God fulfill His word.

One night Toscanini, the famous Italian conductor, led the Philadelphia Symphony Orchestra in Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony, a very difficult piece to conduct. So majestic was the music that the audience stood for ten minutes of applause. Toscanini took his bows again and again. He turned to the orchestra; they bowed. The audience continued to clap and cheer. Finally Toscanini turned his back on the audience and speaking only to the orchestra said, ‘Ladies and gentlemen. I am nothing, you are nothing, Beethoven is everything!’
